In business for over 30 years, Pet Pacific has grown from an Aquarium retail outlet into the largest distributor of Pet related products in Australia and is the sole Australian distributor for Hagen - the world’s largest supplier of Pet products to independent trade.
Processing over 300 orders per day through a manual paper-based system, Pet Pacific decided to look for a more efficient means of distributing from their centralised warehouse at Emu Plains and went to market to find technologies that could provide this.
LSI’s iSupply Lite with RF Picking was chosen as the technology that could provide automation, accuracy and enhanced customer service levels.
iSupply Lite includes an RF Task Monitor which allows the warehouse supervisor to allocate, prioritise and monitor the performance of the warehouse, whilst the RF picking application directs the ‘picker’ on the shortest route through warehouse and ensures the correct product, in the correct quantity is picked from the correct location.
Once the order has been completed, all other processes are completely automated. To despatch the order, the picker scans a barcoded carton identifier, iSupply recognises the order the carton belongs to and the customer who placed the order - the customer’s default carrier is auto-selected and carrier specific freight documentation (electronic and/or hardcopy) is generated. A carrier specific freight cost and customer specific freight recharge is also generated. The confirmed pickslip detail, freight costs and recharges are forwarded to the Pet Pacific ERP system - Jiwa. Jiwa automatically confirms the order, generates an invoice (based on the products picked/despatched and freight recharge generated) and prints an invoice in real-time ready for attachment to the goods being despatched.
